Education System In Turkey
The education system in Turkey consists of primary, secondary, and tertiary, education in universities or similar institutions. Primary education (6 to 14 years old)
Primary Education is the most basic, and most fundamental, part of education in the country. The constitution of the Republic of Turkey itself states that education should be free and compulsory for all citizens. Some of the schools are privately run, but most schools in the country are funded and managed by the state itself. After successful completion of primary education, students are rewarded with a primary education diploma.
Secondary education (14 to 18 years old)
Secondary Education in Turkey is also compulsory for all students in the country. Children begin their secondary education after successfully completing their primary education or after obtaining a diploma in primary education. Secondary education begins at the age of 14 and continues for 4 years. . Also, students must be taught the Turkish language as their mother tongue, which is mandatory for all students. After successfully completing secondary school students are awarded a Lise Diplomasi (which means High School Diploma).
Tertiary education
The Universities of Turkey are also considering being a Republican Institutions where students can pursue their higher education. There are different types of educational programs offered by universities, these programs can last two years or four years. Turkish Universities have high standards compared to the rest of the world. Some of the universities are also leading in the region.
