The Russian education system is divided into three parts which are Preschool, Elementary and Secondary Education. In total Elementary and Secondary School includes 11 years of study. The Russian government organizes and coordinates the education system in Russia. In Russia it is compulsory for children aged 6 to 15 to attend school.
School system in Russia
The first stage of education is primary education and it is for children aged 6 to 10. After that comes senior school which is for children aged 10-15. If a student wants to pursue higher education, he must stay in Senior secondary school for two additional years.
Pre-school Education Russia
Although preschool education is not compulsory in Russia but many children under the age of six attend pre-school. Pre school consists of Kindergarten or Daycare schools. These schools usually focus on children's physical activities and creativity.
General Education System Russia
After starting preschool the general education system is a compromise of three stages: The first is basic education which lasts four years. Second is the basic general education which lasts for five years and then comes the secondary education system which lasts for 2 to 3 years. General education is compulsory in Russia. Courses are taught in Russian.
General education in Russia focuses on the intellectual, emotional, physical and moral development of children.
The general education system has a course of 34 school weeks per year and 27 to 36 hours of study per week.
Each school has its own curriculum but But there are also some compulsory fields such as Russian language, foreign language, mathematics, history, politics, natural science etc.
School exams in Russia The final examination is carried out after the student has completed the primary and the primary general education. Students are awarded with the Certificate of Primary Education, Attestat ob Osnovom Obshchem Obrazovani.
With the help of the certificate the student can gain admission to either secondary general education, vocational education or non-university level (higher education).
There is another exam after the completion of secondary general education called the final State certification (final examination).
Students who clear the exam will be awarded a Certificate of Secondary General Education, Attestat ob Sredem Obshchem Obrazovanii .
Many international schools in Moscow offer education in English or in another language in case you are not comfortable with the Russian language.

Generally there are four times in a in a school in Russia. Vacations are in between; 1st week in November, 2nd week in January, 1st week in March and almost 3 months of summer.
